look i am a sophmore in high school and i am considering going into the marines..... but so many people are telling me that it would be the worst decision i will ever make....and some people are telling me that it would be the best thing i would ever do.......I NEED HELP....can you people give me your opinion???? please???? thanx[/code][/b]

Instead of asking for opinions, you need to be doing research. Opinions are nice, but they only apply to the person giving them. When it comes to deciding what is right for you, only you can make that determination because only you know what's right for you. It's nice to hear what others have to say, but what one finds great there is another around the corner that will tell you just the opposite.
You have a lot of time to look into the Marine Corps and all that it has to offer. Best place to start is to ask yourself why you want to join the Marine Corps. If it's just because you feel this is something you need to do, then that is fine, but at least you have a starting place.
If you want to join the Marines, then learn about the Marines. There are many many sites on the web that will tell you about the Marines and no better place to start is with their home page at http://www.usmc.mil. This will give you a bird's eye view of what the Marine Corps is about and what they expect from you. You can also see what they have to offer and read about Marines who perform everyday.
Then visit sites that are associated with the Marines, like the Marine Corps League. Talk to people who have been in the Marines. Ask them what they liked and didn't like, but don't ask them to make this decision for you. Read through the threads on in this Message Center as well as reading through some of the threads on the Issues Section off the Home Page. These are all the stories of women who have been there and done that. You will read both good and bad, but you will have to sort through and see if the good is enough to overcome the bad.
Bottom line here is that you are the only one that can make this decision, but in order to make a decision that is right for you, you are going to have to do research and not rely on others to tell you what is best for you. Only YOU know that.
