My husband (currently a Cpl in the USMC reserves and a veteran) and I are considering becoming officers together. I am a 22 year old college grad, but will be teaching for the next two years as I wait for my husband (also 22) to finish college.

We both desire the challenge, character improvement, adventure, and service to country that being officers will provide. Although I previously would not have considered myself the "type" to join the military, I believe that I have the determination it takes to succeed. I have a good idea of the hardships ahead since my husband is in the Marines Corps, my brother-in-law just graduated TBS, and I survived a seven-month separation while my husband served in Iraq.

What I AM concerned about is the possibility of separation. What are the chances of us being stationed together, go on the same float/West Pack, and being deployed to the same locale? He wants to pursue a infantry MOS and I prefer supply or logistics. Could we be attached to the same command?

I would greatly appreciate your insight!!

http://usmilitary.about.com is a great website that offers a lot of information on the US military. I found an article on that website that might answer your question:

I worked for an officer whose husband was an infantry officer and she was supply. Although they were married after they had been in for a couple of years they still seemed to enjoy their lifestyle. I'm not truly sure how they deal with officers deploying on the same float, but with you being different MOS's then it shouldn't be that big a deal. I was married to another enlisted Marine and we never had any problems while we were in with being stationed together. Just make sure that you always visit your MOS monitors together, since there are fewer officer billets than enlisted, and he/she can work with you both.
