We are doing a project in school where we are making care packages to send to women currently deployed overseas. We were wondering what items we should include in these care packages to ensure that they are useful.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

My non-profit organization does something very similar here in Atlanta for homeless veterans. I can tell you that socks are a big hit with them.

However, regarding female care packages I would recommend personal hygiene items (sanitary napkins/tampons), shampoo/conditioner (for all types of hair), box hair relaxers (for all types of hair), skin moisturizers, visine, deodorant, hair comb/brush, rubber bands or other hair pullback devices, bar soap (something gentle like dove), sun block.

I hope this helps.

As a woman who served over in Iraq I completely agree with BWB. What she has mentioned are some of the main things that we needed. Also, we loved getting magazines (didn't matter if they were old subcriptions). Also include chap-stick, small handheald mirrors and cotton underwear. You would be surprised how many get lost during laundry services. Hope this helps!
