Hi- I'm thinking of enlisting. I've been attending school as an occupational therapy major but I haven't finished my degree yet. I would love to finish my degree in the airforce and get some job experience in occupational therapy. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or advice for me. thanks

I am sure that occupational therapists fall under the category of health care professionals that can be direct commissioned upon completion of a Bachelor's Degree. You could talk to a recruiter that specializes in health care professionals and ask. I wish I could help you more but my degree will be a BSN(Nursing). Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback! Do you know how I could find a recruiter that specializes in health care professionals?

The trick is finding one for your area and they are few and far between. The ones I talk you are at Scott AFB in Belleville, Illinois. I would contact them and ask where you should call because often times "local" recruiters don't have a clue what you are talking about. I wish I had the phone number handy but I am at someone else's residence today. They have Reserve as well as Active Officer Accessions there.
www.afoats.af.mil has the training program on its website under the OTS category. You will either be in the 12 week Basic Officer Training or the 4 week Commissioned Officer Training as I will be as a BSN, nurse. Good luck!
