We dont do pull-ups for any type of fit testing in the AF. Pullups technically are those w/ your hands facing away from you- chin ups are palms facing you.

We did pull-ups in ASBC (finishing school for Officers :) but it wasnt for testing- it was to get ready for the Obstacle Course.

Current AF Fit test requires 1min pushups, 1min situps 1.5 mile run and a body composition test. Although in BMT they can do what they will with you :)

Well, the thing is, at BMT, they have certain requirements for passing, honor graduate and maxing. To max out completely on the final test, you are required to do 5 pull-ups. It is not enough for me to go to basic and just pass, I want to be a warhawk when i get there, so I need the proper form for the pull up that will be graded there, to make sure I am training correctly. I understand pull-ups are not a usual testing exercise.
