Hello,
I am a 30 year old female considering joining the Army Reserve. I go to visit my recruiter this Monday. I'm 5'2 and ablout 120 pounds and terribly out of shape! I can only do about half of a push-up one time! I can manage sit-ups if someone holds my feet down. I haven't ran since I played soccer 10 years ago! Am I getting in over my head and will fail or will there be other women in the same boat as me who will gain strength along with me?
Thanks for info and advice!

I'd say go for it, but you're going to want to be in some shape before you head out. Maybe join the Y or get together with some friends and just go jogging or weight lifting. You need to be able to do at least one push up at Reception Battalion, and you'd be best off being able to do more than that. Basic will be very tough if you are really out of shape. Best of luck! Hello,
I appreciate your response and the e-mail response I recieved from another person so quickly! I have been skimming through every messgase available on this board and have found answers to many questions I have already! I will appreciate all of the input any of you may have to offer. In fact, I fealt very inspired reading through these messages and just now managed to complete one entire proper push-up almost through pure force of will! I'll keep working on them, though..
Thank you,
Kevy Rae

: Kevy Rae ~~~> i definetly think u should do it!!! i too am only 5'2" and 111lbs. we need more virticaly challenged female soldiers:) good luck and try to get a little in shape everyday. It is not that hard to start jogging a little and do push ups on your own free time. To do better situps, put your feet under your couch to hold them down, that is how i started. I would definatly get a membership to a gym and always listen to music, it will keep u motivated. GOOD LUCK AND BE ALL THAT YOU CAN BE!!!! C/MSG Suzie :)

The soldiers I saw that were your age in Basic Training had a tough time and got injured fairly often and with fairly little effort. I would consider it carefully before you do it! It is tough and you will need a tough mindset and a very determined attitude. Expect to get injured, and expect to be forced beyond your expectations!
