Hi: I would like to know how woman who have long hair wear it in Basic training. I would also like any information on the MOS known as 92Y (Unit Supply Specialist)If there is anyone out there who knows anyone who has ever had that job I would like to know if it is stressful compared with other jobs. Also, I heard that alot of women can't make it in Basic training and they are sent back..(a man told me this) Is this true?If so, what would be the grounds for sending someone back?

: what would be the grounds for sending someone back? Take it from someone who's been there, go ahead and cut your hair for basic, it will grow back. Regulation states it must be neat and above the collar, but we're talking about basic here and time is at a premium. It's just easier all around, plus hygienne will factor in. I started with long hair, then cut it just for that reason. Like I said it will grow back.
Supply can be a very stressful job, but if you are good at paying attention to details and are meticulous in your paperwork, it's not that bad.
I will say this, just as many men fail basic as women. It's hard, but not impossible. Whether you make it or not depends on your mind set. Just remember it's the toughest time in the military, but it doesn't last forever and you will get training that will be invaluable throughout your military career. When you do graduate you will have a great sense of accomplishment.

: As far as hair goes, I cut mine before basic, but there were a lot of people with a lot of hair.
Braids work very well, they keep the hair from falling out--especially french braids. Also, tight buns at your neck as long as they won't fall out and won't touch the bottom of your collar.
Basic is a state of mind. If you are prepared to physically meet the challenge, the best thing to remember is how many woman have made it!!
