If you wanted to take a course at the local college in the area where you are staioned, I am told the Army will pay up to 75 percent of the tuition...Is that considered part of the GI Bill? I am only asking because I chose the option of having the Army pay my student loan and so in doing that i no longer qualify for the GI Bill. Does anyone know if I would still be able to take a course while in active service and receive a discount?

well sweetie i would defintly recomend that u talk to a recruiter for the spacifics but...the GI bill (acitive army) is designed for after u get dischaged. But in the reserves as long as the course is okayed by the army, they will help pay for it, the army all together is very good about paying to further your education i seriously doubt you wouldn't be able to work anything out with them. However, like i said jus check with your recruiter and they will help u with whatever u need:) Good luck C/2nd Lt. Suzie

While you are on active duty, they will pay a great portion of the individual classes you want. It's called tuition assistance and is not a part of the GI Bill. It's another program because it is not full time college.

I just have an addition to what Paula said, even though you don't have the GI Bill. The GI Bill can also be used while you are active duty if you happen to reenlist for the college option where you can take a semester off to go to school full time.

You will have at least some tuition assistance.

On another note, you can get GI Bill benefits if you are not enrolled full time in college--it's just prorated.

There were alot of job choices but depending on how long you are willing to sign for will depend if you can choose a particular job. I only had $7,000 paid back because I had already paid off the rest but they will pay back up to $50,00 that's what they told me ...and make sure they put the exact amount they will pay in your contract....they will lie to you .....as long as everything is in your contract it should be okay...Krystal
