Leave overseas base before schedule?

Does anyone know if you are able to leave your over seas base to come home earlier if you are unable to cope? A friend of mine is stationed in Korea for a year. He has been there 5 months and is having a difficult time coping. Is there a medical leave for depression that would send him back to the states? Or just a way to get him back here?

: Dear Rebecca, My husband and I are in Korea with the Army right now. I work in the dpartment that deals with chapters and actions concerning soldiers. All I can tell you is No. Your friend has to do 10 months and 2 days before it is considered a full tour. Otherwise he will have to go right back to Korea. (That is if he even gets to leave). Tell him to get out and do things in Korea. It will make time go by faster!! Sorry!
