I will graduate June 2000. I will ship out for Ft. Jackson, SC 20001006 afterwards, I will go to Ft. Sam Huston, TX for a combine total of 62 weeks My MOS is 91-C. However, I am not totaly sure if this is what I want to do. I was kinda sweet talked into it by my recruiter. I already took the oath of enlistment and everything. I guess basicly my question is that if it comes down to it, can I get out of my contract??? My recruiter told me that if I want to back out, i can by 20000901. I am not scared of going, I know that I could make it in the Army--no doubt. I am just not sure if I want to spend the next 4 years of my life living on an Army base. I just need some advice, short of breaking my own leg (just kidding). Thank you for atleast reading this if you can't help:) C/Cpt. Suzie

Dear C/CPT Suzie,
You can still get out of your contract, but I don't recommend it. I went to Fort Jackson for basic too and it was not very bad at all, definitely the best post to have basic training at. Also the MOS of 91C is an excellent one. You will be an LPN and you can use that if you decide to get out of the military after your four years is up. It will also help if you decide to go for your RN. I am about to leave the military for college to become an RN and it would be so much easier if I had been a 91C. I think you should go for it, the Army will give you so many more advantages. But you can back out of it until the plane leaves the ground on 20001006.

I second that, don't drop it now! It really will help in the future, it will give you job experience and even GI Bill and stuff if you signed for it. Everyone feels this way some time between signing and arriving at BCT... a lot get that feeling at BCT:). Perfectly normal, and you can back out if you absolutely don't want to do this. Best of luck! All right Suzie listen up.. At this point you have two choices you can either go in and do your tour or not.. Right now you can back out of anything, without recourse. As far as your recruiter goes.. They all lie.. well pretty much.. If you are not sure about your career then don't go. I've spent five years in the army and am an Officer Candidate for the state of CT. I absolutely love the army but not everyone does. Choice is yours. email me if you have any questions. Hope i could help..
