I'm in!!! I signed the papers at the MEPS and leave Aug. 9th. Now I want out. I found out more about the job (92A 1)and found out several lies the recruiter told me. I feel betrayed and I just want out. My recruiter is being a butt. He won't listen. I just want out. What happens if I just don't go to the MEPS on Aug. 9th. What if I just don't show up for BCT??? This is a volunteer Army and I want to un-volunteer.

What kind of lies did he tell you?I leave out in 4 days for Ft.Jackson.I think once you are signed in you are in.If you don't report to MEPS,that is called going AWOL and you can do jail time for that.Once you sign those papers the goverment owns you. That's the way I understood it.

It's not just jail time, it's a federal offense. That makes it a felony. You lose your priviledges as a citizen like voting and owning fire arms. You may luck out and the only charge you with AWOL, but that's not how they usually handle it.

If you are having problems with that recruiter, then talk to another. Continue to go up the chain if they don't answer your questions.

The worst thing you can do is not show up.

Negative information. You have only signed the first contract. You have to swear in a second time when you show up at the MEPS to ship out. Talk to your recruiter, let him know how serious you are about not going. FInd out if you can switch j0bs. I am about 98% sure of the info that I just passed on. But don't not show up. Even if you get no cooperation from your recruiter go over his head to his station commander and let him know what your situation is. If that doesn't work then speak to someone at MEPS. If you really don't want to go it is best to get out before you start. Everyone will benefit. The govt won't waste money on someone who really doesn't want to be there, and you won't waste your time doing something you don't want to do.

I agree with the last person. You are not IN the Army. You are not considered Active Duty until you have raised your hand the second time. If you really don't want to be in tell your recruiter NOW!

You can get out!! Visit the website "STAAMP.ORG" and you will find out. Navigate around a little. Last time I visited, there was a section where you can even get out of the delayed program

By the way, what lies has the recruiter told you?
