Chandra, I haven't gone yet but i'm in the process and i have three boys and a husband as well. I'm going to miss them like crazy so what i think of during the times that i feel like backing out or like i'm going to miss them alot while i'm gone is that the sooner I go the sooner i'll have my family with me again. I don't know if this helped but I figured that we're young moms going through the same thing we gotta help eachother out :). marie

As soon as I think I'm sure about going in, I start thinking about missing them again. I just still am not sure. I know that this is what I want but, I don't know if it's what's good for them ya know?

Think about it this way...what better place to raise your kids then on a military base. Don't need to worry about them walking around with guns or drugs because everything is monitored. Also think of what a wonderful example you'll be setting for them. That of a strong smart and brave woman. I think about that alot and it helps me too. I spoke to my recruiter this morning and she says i'll be leaving in about a week and a half because my waiver should be back in a week. She says two weeks max. So when I leave i'll be thinking all these things that I told you so that I can get thru my basic training and my ait and have my family with me again. marie

: again. marie Chanda, Chanda, Chanda, let me tell you, it will be the hardest thing that you have to do in your life. Basic is a cake walk compared to going to bed at night not being able to kiss your husband or kids good night. BUT, on the other hand there is no greater joy than seeing their proud faces as you graduate from basic and ait. When I went in I had 3 children at the time 8, 6,and 2. It broke my heart when I left them. I plastered pictures of them all over my wall locker. I hope that I am not scaring anyone, this is a big decision, but to me, and I may be biased, military life has big advantages. Especially for families. My husband was in for many years, in Infantry, and when I went in the 1st time I went in as a Cook (big mistake), now when I leave again in a few months I will be going back in in the 71 series. And this time there are 5 kids to leave behind. That's right,5 kids. I have been busy. The youngest is my precious 1 year old baby girl. But I gave up on the Army once already, I won't make the same mistake. This time I am picking a job that I should have picked in the first place. And this time I am now in the best shape of my life at the tender old age of 32. :) Good luck to any and all of you getting ready to serve your country. Please feel free to E-Mail me if you have any specific questions or if you just want to talk.
