I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a little about the technicalities involved if i was to switch from reserves to active duty. While I may be "jumping the gun a bit" (i haven't gone to basic yet, 4 days!!) but I was just curious, since I have been seriously considering it. The problem is, I want to finish college first. I have 2 years to go at a private college in NY, therefore my parents would kill me if i didn't complete my education. If i switched immediately following graduation (june 2002) how does that work? My reserve time is eliminated and then I sign on for active duty, right? How long...2-4 years? Would I have the opportunity to possibly go OCS? What does the entrance to that program entail? Recommendations, tests? Any info on even one of these questions would be great. Thanks!
