Whats the showers and bathrooms like at basic, I am a real modest person. I can deal with it, it just might be better if I know ahead of time what to expect. I don't well want to clean myprivate parts infront of everybody else and have them make fun of me, and then again I don't want to walk around with body order that would kill a cow either, ketch my drift. Are there doors or curtains on the showers and toilets?

Depending on where you're stationed at, or where you'll be doing basic training, depends on how the shower stalls are going to be. Sometimes they'll have "separators" or something like that I've heard. I did recruit training for the marines at Parris Island and you had to shower in a big room with everyone else. If you're worried about that, just remember you'll be doing everything else with everyone else no matter what, so you'll just have to deal with it. No one's gonna make fun of you, no one's gonna be looking at you. Everyone else is there to shower, not to look. For marine corps training, we only had 2 minutes to shower, so we weren't concentrating on everyone else. I don't know how long you get to shower in the army, i can't imagine it being very long though.

I went to Ft. Jackson, SC, for basic. We had a group shower system, about eight showers. In the back however there were 3 individual showers. Of course all thirty girls using those showers wanted those exclusive showers, so you had to be fast to get in.

Don't worry after living with that many people you'll lose any kind of modesty. In basic you're on a real time constraint so no one really lingers in the shower. By the third week girls were doubling up anyhow.

Depends on where you go. When I was at Ft Jackson, we had 8 shower heads in a room with small dividers. Only 6 of the showers worked and with 60 women, that adds up to a lot of time. We ended up doubling and tripling up in the showers - one getting wet while the others shampoo and soap, then rotate out to rinse...

No one is going to make fun of you cleaning your bits 'n pieces. It is something that we all SHOULD be doing - you'll find that there is at least one person at basic with an aversion to water - quite nasty.

Just remember, you are going to lose your modesty very quickly. In addition to showering in the same room, you will also get dressed in front of these women every day.

There's no such thing as a stupid question. You've been open enough to ask, so that's good. We should all be able to ask questions without judgement. As for the bathing...when I was in Basic (many years ago) we had stalls without doors for the modest and open areas for the rest. After a few days/weeks, we had only a couple girls still using the stalls. You tend to lose your modesty in this situation (and you will get it back!) Be open minded and you'll be fine. Remember that we all have to bathe and those that don't may end up getting a 'scrubbing' from those that object to the B.O. Good luck!
