Default Physical Training for Boot Camp

Hi Everyone! I am currently dieting and exercising to meet the entry weight requirements. I have lost 10.5 pounds in one month and have 34.5 to go! Hopefully I will be ready by the middle of May or begining of June. I have been doing weight training every other day for 45 minutes concentrating on the upper body, 45 minutes walking on the treadmill (slowly working my way up to a run) 6 days a week, and 20 pushups and 5 20-second planks every day.

My question is: are there other specific areas or exercises I should be doing? Is there anything that when you got to boot camp you wish you had done to prepare? I know I will be tested for running, swimming, situps, and pushups. Thank you in advance for any advice!

    Default Same question.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have currently lost three pounds the past two weeks and I'm wondering what I can improve upon. My goal is to lose 45 and be able to sign up for boot by October. I've been dong yoga and eating right. I'm going to be going with my friend Chris (also going into navy) to the gym every day I can. But right now I'm not sure what else I can do. What will put me in the best shape for boot camp?

ONE. crouch leaning forward on your toes with your hands on the floor next to your feet.
TWO. kick your feet out into and hold the 'up' pushup position
THREE. drop into 'down' pushup position
FOUR. come back up into 'up' pushup position
FIVE. still holding 'up' pushup posotion, kick your feet apart(maybe 2 feet)
SIX. Kick your feet back together
SEVEN. with you hands staying on the floor, jump your feet out of the pushup position and back in between your hands ending up back in the crouch you started with.
    EIGHT. stand up

start all over again, and do them until you can't do them anymore then do some more. sorry for the poor description, i tried to find a link w/pics, but didnt see any

The max that the specialists (drs, nutritionists) say to lose in a week, is two pounds, no more. You want to be sure to keep yourself healthy while dieting. Also, always consult with your doctor before starting any diet/excercise program (to ensure that the program fits your own dietary and excercise needs). And remember, what works for one person (ie: diet/excercise), may not work for you. Remember, the faster you lose the weight, the faster that you'll gain it back.

    Default Training For Boot Camp

I have just come off of active duty with the United States Marine Corps a few months ago. I have made a website called http://trainingforbootcamp.com to help those who are training for boot camp in the near future. Even if you are not training for boot camp I recommended learning what I have to share. It will definitely improve your physical fitness and may be very helpful to you.

Congrats 2 you for surviving 4 years of the USMC! I'd love to check out your site, but it won't let me open it.
