Coast Guard medevacs 1 from cruise ship in Chesapeake Bay
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a passenger off the cruise ship Carnival Pride in Chesapeake Bay, Monday.
At approximately 10:20 p.m. Sunday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a call from the captain of the Carnival Pride stating that he had a 68-year-old male in need of a medevac.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Little Creek, Va., was dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 1:20 a.m.
The man was successfully transferred from the cruise ship to the boat crew and transported to awaiting EMS.
EMS transported the man to Sentara Bayside Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va.
