Each February the American Dental Association sponsors Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and developing good habits at an early age to promote lifelong dental healthcare.

KODIAK, Alaska - Regan Moir, a dental hygienist with Coast Guard base Kodiak's Rockmore King Clinic, helps a Chiniak Elementary student with scraping teeth Feb. 28, 2011, at the base clinic during a visit from Chiniak students for National Children's Dental Health Month.

Moir used a puppet to show children the primary duties at a dental clinic and to educate the children about practicing good dental hygiene.

KODIAK, Alaska - Hunter McGuyrt, 5, brushes a puppet's teeth Feb. 25, 2011, during a visit from health services technicians with the Rockmore King Clinic at the Child Development Center in Kodiak for National Children's Dental Health Month.

The dental staff from the Kodiak-based clinic were showing children how to properly brush and floss their teeth to promote better dental healthcare.

KODIAK, Alaska - Petty Officer 3rd Class Blaine Bodie, a health services technician with Coast Guard Rockmore King Clinic in Kodiak, teaches a 3-year-old child at the Kodiak Child Development Center about the proper way to care for her teeth Feb. 25, 2011, during a visit for National Children's Dental Health Month.

Bodie used a puppet to allow children to practice brushing and flossing teeth during his visit to the CDC to help promote better dental hygiene.
