AIR FORCE

Posted:  14 Apr 00:  "Officer/Enlisted Marriages"

I'm an E-4, USAF, Computer Operator
He's an E-4, USAF, Combat Controller (Special Forces)

I'm going to apply to OTS upon finishing my degree within the year. He can only be stationed at a total of five bases worldwide. (Kadena, Mildenhall, Pope, Hurlburt Field, and McChord)

For the first year of our marriage, we will be separated.  I will be doing a remote assignment in Korea, he is currently trying to get an assignment to Kadena, Japan.

I want to get a commission.  He loves what he does and will stay enlisted.  My degree is in business with a human resource emphasis, I want to become a Services or Military Personnel Flight Officer.

Because he is enlisted and I would be an officer, what is the likely hood that we would have joint assignments?  I wonder how possible this dream is.   A fulfilling career and a family together.

I would appreciate a reply (renae@intellisys.net ) from anyone who is or ever has been in a similar situation.

ARMY

Need advise on getting released from army on hardship withdraw.  Applied for hardship withdraw and it was denied.  Received a 4 year army scholarship for college and graduated with a degree in nursing.  Had full intentions of fulfilling my obligation to the army but discovered I was pregnant. Now have a 4 month old and was just told to leave him with my parents and I will be sent to Texas for 9 weeks for OBC then given my orders.  I can not leave my infant for 9 weeks!  I applied for a hardship withdraw and wanted to enter the reserves.  Do I have any options?  Need advice!  Please post my email address, Susan, sdeangelo@dentalez.com

Posted:  25 Jan 00:  "Family Care Plan Discharge (How do I go about it?)

I am currently active duty in the Army, I am a SPC with 4 years in the military.  Currently, my family and I are stationed in Ansbach, Germany. My problem is that I have been here since the end of July, and have no family care plan.  I have told my superiors that I don't have one and don't foresee myself turning one in now or in the future.  I went as far as to go to legal for advice they recommended that I put in a waiver, waiving any extensions on my family care plan, and to put in a Chapter 6 application for discharge due to hardship or dependency.  Well I did both, in my application I had my first line supervisor and PLT Sergeant write a letter to go along with my packet.  In my packet I explained that I do not have a family care plan or no one  to care of my son.  My day care issues were taken care of.  Part of the contract with child care services you have to turn in a family care plan within 30 days.  But I still do not have a family care plan, and my unit will not let me out of the army.  My family care plan was supposed to be turned in, in September and now its January.  I am not happy in the military.  And I would like stay home and take care of my son.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
